In the very center of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan the Icheri Sheher is located, a historical and architectural reserve surrounded by a fortress wall. The first mention of this Baku fortress dates back to the XII century.
The main sights of Icheri-Sheher are the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the Maiden's Tower, as well as many unique monuments: mosques and minarets, baths, caravanseraes. There are such museums named after Tahir Salahov, Miniature books in the fortress. Here, popular Soviet films such as: "Diamond Arm" and "Amphibian Man" were shot.
Since 1977, the Icheri-Sheher complex has received the status of a historical and architectural reserve, and since 2000 it has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Seaside Park (Boulevard)
Baku Boulevard is a quay that stretches for 25 kilometers along the shore of the Caspian Sea. Here everything is thought out to the smallest detail and beautiful both at night and in the daytime. Here you can also see a huge chessboard with figures about half the size of human growth, where local guys play games. Baku can be seen from the other side on a pleasure boat. From here an amazing panorama of the Baku bay opens. And to see the panorama of Baku from a bird's eye view, you can climb to the highest place of the capital - Nagorny Park - with the help of a funicular. Small Venice - a fairy corner in the seaside boulevard. It was laid on the Baku Boulevard in the 60s of the XX century and is still a favorite place for both Baku residents and tourists. The Flame Towers are skyscrapers, the highest in Azerbaijan. The Flame Towers are three tall buildings, similar to the "tips" of the flame. The height of these flame tips is 190, 160 and 140 meters, respectively. These three buildings are the tallest buildings in Azerbaijan. Today a hotel, office space and residential apartments are located in the towers. The Flame Towers are called the modern symbol of Baku and demonstrate to the whole world that Baku is the city of lights. Particularly beautiful view of the Flame Tower opens after sunset. In the darkness, a unique light is activated, which imitates a fire. During the light show, it really seems that the three buildings are real flames in the center of the city. There is an opinion that the appearance of the Flame Towers is connected with the Baku city emblem, which depicts three flames.
